Considering students who are under the circumstance not allowing them to attend classroom lectures, UCS provides self-directed learning program that students can provide academic experience autonomously. Self-directed learning program allows students to acquire academic credits from a project they choose directly relating to their ministry after consulting with a school staff (except students living in a long distance or abroad).
Writing a book or an article or taking a missionary trip or meditation trip can be also credited for academic experiences. Students also earn credits by taking online courses and submitting a self-evaluation paper.
However, 70% of the total academic credits must be acquired through conferences or classroom lectures; since UCS puts more emphasis on passing down spiritual gift than simply delivering information.
